Who We Are

An NGO dedicated to bridging the ICT educational gap between rural and urban students in Ghana through the provision of training, resources, and digital learning tools

Rural Rise Foundation was established to bridge the ICT and Digital Literacy gap in schools in rural areas of Ghana and to empower students at the Basic, Junior High School (JHS), and Senior High School (SHS) levels to develop their skills and talents to achieve their full potential. In today’s globalized world, ICT and computer skills are essential, yet many students in rural and deprived communities in Ghana lack access to the tools, training, and guidance needed to compete and thrive.

Many students in these communities also struggle to understand the value and purpose of education due to limited educational backgrounds within their families. As a result, some promising students-especially young girls-face challenges such as teenage pregnancy, which often leads to school dropout. Rural Rise Foundation seeks to raise awareness about the importance of education and inspire students to discover and develop the gifts and purpose God has placed within them.

Inspired by lived experiences in underserved communities and the belief that every child has a God-given purpose, Rural Rise Foundation (aims to) empowers students through education advocacy, access to digital tools, academic mentorship, scholarships, and leadership development programs. The goal is to raise a generation of confident and purpose-driven young people who will positively transform their families and communities.

History

Our story begins in Koffekurom, Obuasi, a community deeply affected by mining activities and the challenges of illegal mining famously known as “galamsey”. Growing up in this environment, our founder witnessed the tragic misdirection of many bright young minds. Teenage friends, full of potential and intelligence, were drawn away from classrooms and tertiary institutions and into the dangers of illegal mining and unproductive paths-largely due to a lack of guidance and parental oversight. While many lives seemed lost to circumstance, faith and perseverance played a role: most of the founder’s close friends discovered their purpose and now contribute meaningfully to helping the vulnerable in Koffekurom.

In November 2025, after spending four years in China and three years in the United States, our founder returned to Ghana. Visiting the Volta Region, he observed a harsh reality: many students drop out of Senior High School, young girls face early pregnancies or forced marriages, and boys often become motor riders or peasant farmers. Only a few fortunate students’ progress to tertiary education. This sobering experience underscored the urgent need for an organization dedicated to guiding students towards discovering and achieving their God-given purpose in some selected rural areas.

Thus, this NGO was established with a vision to empower students to become leaders and positive change agents. Our philosophy is that every student has the potential to be a ‘tree’ that bears good fruit for the community to see, admire, and plant similar trees across rural areas in Ghana, creating a forest of intellectuals.

Through targeted programs such as scholarships, computer access, educational resources, parent engagement, mentorship, and debate initiatives, the foundation strives to ensure students in some selected rural areas in Ghana not only achieve academic success but also develop into individuals who transform their communities.
